There is great interest in identifying asymptomatic individuals at risk, who would be candidates for more intensive, evidence-based medical interventions aimed at preventing death and disability from coronary heart disease (CHD) and stroke.
Cardiovascular (CV) disease is a leading cause of death and disability. For many individuals the first symptom of heart disease is sudden cardiac death or myocardial infarction (MI). Therefore, there is great interest in identifying asymptomatic individuals at risk, who would be candidates for more intensive, evidence-based medical interventions aimed at preventing death and disability from coronary heart disease (CHD) and stroke.
